The Shining

The film opens with an wide shot of an lake, the camera work was a lot of wide shot then a close up and just alternating in that order roughly for that film, there is a sense of emptiness through out the whole film as the hotel is so big and there is only 3 people in the hotel, the film is centred on the family that are looking after the hotel, the imagery has a lot of semetric shots and a lot of them are also on point perspective.

The music in the film sets the mood and what you should be feeling in different points of the film, the feeling through out the whole film is very creepy and psychologically scary all the way through the film, the size of the car makes you realise how vast and massive the area is so you know how secluded they are from anyone else in the world. the best feeling to portray this film with is psychological because a lot of it is shown but it is in the characters head and its not real in the film but its from the past and they all died a long time ago. the colour of there car is yellow, its a Volkswagen. yes you can identify the people in the car.

In the end credits of the film they use and black background with blue text, I think that Stanley Kubrick used them colours because of the song that they used, the song is called midnight stars and you, and a lot of people associate midnight with the colours black and blue. this can also be linked to the fact they escape from the place at midnight so they decided to use that song and therefore use them colours. Stanley Kubrick made loads of enigma codes in this film, when the film finished you have so many questions in your head
